Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
